Packaging Manager
Take charge of new packaging development and manage quality control with a strong salary package. Ideal for senior professionals with 10+ years’ experience.
The Packaging Manager role at Planbee Strategy Consultants is a compelling opportunity for experienced professionals. The position comes with a competitive salary ranging from 15 to 20 Lacs, offers a permanent full-time role, and is best suited for those with at least 10 years of relevant expertise.
The role requires a strong educational background in packaging—preferably with a postgraduate specialisation. The job demands flexibility to operate from both the corporate office and the factory, which gives professionals a balance of management and on-ground involvement with processes.
Key Responsibilities and Daily Routine
The daily work of the Packaging Manager centres around leading new packaging development and ensuring quality control for all finished products. You’ll be responsible for creating and maintaining a central repository of artworks, standardising designs for laminates and making sure legal and brand compliance is asserted across all products and vendors.
Managing packaging materials is critical—this includes printed packaging, as well as flexible and rigid packaging. You’ll develop and nurture relationships with vendors and suppliers, and have primary responsibility for passing all relevant audits based on facility and process standards.
An essential aspect is supervising packaging operations at processing units and understanding the practical challenges teams face. The role includes collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify and proactively address regulatory or system risks before products reach the market.
Your days will involve significant leadership, communication, and hands-on problem-solving. These tasks will help ensure consistency and high standards in all packaging and brand presentation produced by the company.
Major Pros of This Position
One clear advantage of this role is its seniority and the autonomy provided. Professionals have the chance to influence brand presentation at a high level and see the real impact of their work.
The compensation is another major benefit. Given the sought-after experience and expertise required, the salary package offered is highly competitive in the FMCG sector, reflecting the importance of the role.
Another advantage is the chance to develop strong vendor relations and be at the forefront of innovation in packaging processes. You’ll continually work with the latest materials and compliance standards, which is rewarding for those who value continuous professional growth.
Potential Cons to Consider
With high responsibility comes high expectations. The pressures of managing audits, compliance, and multiple vendors can create stress, especially with tight deadlines or unforeseen supply chain issues.
The flexibility to operate from both the corporate office and the factory requires adaptability. Not everyone thrives in environments with changing daily contexts and demands on travel or relocation.
Our Verdict
If you are a senior packaging professional wanting to lead, innovate, and drive results for a major player in the FMCG industry, this job is well worth considering. The compensation, authority, and scope of influence offered here are excellent. However, it demands experience, resilience, and a strong service orientation—qualities vital for those in such senior management roles.
